Louis
Port Louis is the capital of Mauritius and is on the port of the Indian
Ocean. It is the nation's largest city and its economic and administrative
center. The city was founded in 1735 by Bertrand Francois Mahe de La
Bourdonnais, governor of the French colony on Mauritius (then called Ile de
France). Here one can explore vast and colorful market.
There were old colonial buildings lining the streets and shops selling
almost everything from a variety of fabrics to spices and even books.
Casela
Bird Park
The beauty of Casela Bird Park is amazing. One can hear the chirping of the
birds in the park from miles. There are over 140 species of birds in the
park.
Even if you are not a bird watcher, the Park is sure to give you a special
time.
Mahebourg
The entire place is dotted by various landmarks of a bygone era. There is a
Naval Museum, in an ancient building, built in 1771. As one explores the
various sections of the museum,one feels getting transferred to some battle
field.
