Itinerary

Day 01 :
Arrival in Lucerne by train from the Swiss border or the airport. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day 02 :
Today you board the train to Arth-Goldau. From the station of Mt. Rigi-Railways you go further on with the cogwheel train up to Rigi Kulm (1.800 m/6.000ft). From the summit you can have a breath-taking 360 degrees panoramic view of the Alps, looking out over 13 lakes and across all central Switzerland as far as Germany and France. Descend from Mt. Rigi by cogwheel train to Rigi Kaltbad and further by aerial cable-car to Weggis (or continue by cogwheel train to Vitznau) from where you board the boat and enjoy a cruise back to Lucerne. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day 03 :
After breakfast you board the train to travel through the wonderful Bernese Oberland to the Valais. Either via the Lötschberg base tunnel directly to Visp and further to Zermatt. Or by the Lötschberger - The new air conditioned train with big windows using the traditional scenic Lötschberg Line to Brig and continue your journey to Zermatt. Zermatt, at the foot of the majestic Matterhorn, is the perfect Alpine resort. Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 04 :
Excursion to the Matterhorn glacier paradise - Europe's highest mountain lift with the most fascinating and highest glacier palace in the world - at 3883 m/12'740 ft. Experience the mystical world below the perpetual ice and visit the highest viewing platform in Europe at the Matterhorn glacier paradise. Overnight in Zermatt.


Day 05 :
Return to Swiss border or airport or continue your stay in Switzerland at your own request.

Itinerary

Day 01 :
Arrival in Lucerne by train 2nd class from the Swissborder or any Swiss Airport. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day 02
Day at leisure. We recommend an excursion to following mountain tops: Mount Pilatus - the golden round trip or Mount Rigi - Queen of the mountains or Mount Titlis - Titlis Rotair, Ice Flyer Chairlift, Glacier Park & Cave. See optional excursion rates on page 29. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day 03 :
Rail journey over the Brünig Pass to Interlaken situated between the Lakes of Thun and Brienz and at the foot the famous trio of peaks, the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau.Overnight in Interlaken.

Day 04 :
Scenic rail journey passing alpine forests, crystal clear mountain streams and picturesque mountain villages. Take the GoldenPass Panoramic BLS train from Interlaken Ost to Zweisimmen and further by GoldenPass Panoramic MOB train to Montreux on the Riviera of Lake Geneva. Overnight in Montreux.

Day 05 :
Rail journey to Zermatt, the famous carfree Alpine resort at the foot of the Matterhorn. Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 06 :
From Zermatt, the popular Gornergrat Bahn, Europe's highest open-air cogwheel railway, takes you up to the Gornergrat 9.3 km away. The train crosses impressive bridges, galleries and tunnels. On the Gornergrat viewing platform you are surrounded by 29 peaks rising to above 4000 m. Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 07 :
Board the Glacier Express and enjoy one of the greatest rail journeys in the world. A 7½ hour rail journey takes you across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass at 2033 m to St. Moritz. Overnight in St. Moritz.

Day 08 :
Return to Swiss border or airport or continue your stay in Switzerland at your own request.
